TEDxOOBSchool is an independently organized TED event to be held on the 14th January, 2018 at Our Own English High School, Sharjah-Boys’ Branch. In tune with the TED motto “ideas worth spreading”, we aim to organize a TEDx event to promote innovative and creative thinking which would ignite dialogues among young minds. ‘TEDxOOBSchool’ is an event exclusively for the student community.
The complex world with all its intricacies is, all by itself, a mystery. Probing into any of its aspects is a demanding deed. The present day global scenario reveals problems that pain humanity as a whole. TEDxOOBSchool aims to facilitate a common platform where future leaders and innovators can share ideas and suggest innovative solutions to global issues ranging from pollution and depletion of resources, to refugee crisis and the role of humanity.
PERSPECTIVE being the theme, newer perspectives in the world outlook will be showcased this year. In an ever changing world, a different perspective is what usually brings about a sea-change. The world has taken a different course whenever people thought differently. Each perspective turns a new page in the book of experiences, some of them may be worth sharing and discussing on a wider scale.
We invite student speakers to the TEDx platform at OOEHS Sharjah, Boys’ Branch to present their original ideas in the form of adeptly structured short talks. Demonstrations or performances can enhance the talks, if need be.
First in the line of action, we are eyeing for interesting and diversified ideas. Our team of curators will help the selected speakers to enhance their performance standards. They will have to attend three rehearsals at OOEHS Boys, Sharjah.

What: TEDxOOBSchool – ‘Perspective’
Where: Our Own English High School Sharjah - Boys' Branch
When: 14th January, 2018
Talks by selected speakers, with interludes.
o Duration of talk : 2-7 minutes
o Age Group: 13 to 18 years.
o No commercial agenda: Speakers should not promote their own products, books, or businesses.
o Avoid pseudoscience: TED and TEDx are platforms for showcasing and explaining genuine advances in science, and it is important we retain
the respect of the scientific community. Speakers should avoid the misuse of scientific language to make unsubstantiated claims.
o No talks with an inflammatory political or religious agenda, nor for polarizing “Us vs. Them” language. We seek to build consensus and
provide outside-the-box thinking, not to revisit familiar, unresolvable disputes on these topics.
o Your Talk: The talks should be formed around original ideas, challenges, passions and inspirations. We are looking for
speeches with ideas that envisage a new perspective, powerful enough to provide food for thought to a dynamic world.
